Thank you to all who made the Kentucky Waterways Alliance 30th Anniversary Celebration August 18, 2023 such a success!
Presented by the Owsley Brown II Family Foundation
We celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Kentucky Waterways Alliance with an unforgettable evening of friends, music, film, food, and art! Scroll down to see photographs from the evening.
The celebration was generously presented by the Owsley Brown II Family Foundation. Thank you to our members, sponsors, Board of Directors, Joan Shelley, Al Gorman, community partners, and all of our guests who helped to make this evening so special!
We were thrilled to present a special performance by Louisville’s own Joan Shelley. Joan, longtime friend of KWA, assembled a honkytonk band to back her as well as a series of guest vocalists including Will Oldham. Following Joan’s performance, we transported you into the captivating world of environmental storytelling through our 15th annual Wild and Scenic Film Festival. This festival showcased an array of short films featuring the beauty of our planet's wild and scenic places, as well as the urgent need to protect them. In addtion, Al Gorman, a renowned artist who creates art from objects found in the Ohio River, created a special display for the evening. Guests enjoyed food and drink from our sponsors Wiltshire Pantry and West Sixth Brewing.
We have accomplished much in the last 30 years, but much work remains. Thank you for your support.
Kentucky is water. Water is commonwealth.
