Kentucky River Cleanup on August 20, 2022
Join Kentucky Waterways Alliance and our partners at Canoe Kentucky for a clean-up event on the Kentucky River in Frankfort, Kentucky. We will be canoeing and/or kayaking while cleaning up the river and its banks. You can expect to be on the water for 2-3 hours. Canoe Kentucky will be providing canoes, paddles, and life jackets. KWA will provide gloves, trash bags, and any other necessary supplies.
This is a fun day on the water, and an opportunity to keep this important waterway beautiful!
Please note:
What to bring with you: Please bring refillable water waters. Snacks will be available, but we will not provide lunch.
Directions to meeting site: Volunteers will gather at River View Park Boat Dock in downtown Frankfort. When navigating to River View Park Boat Dock, it is important to note volunteers should will enter across the street from Urban Woods Apt. 615 Wilkinson BLVD, Frankfort KY. The apartments are bright orange, blue, pink, and yellow. There will be a “Bourbon Boat Tours” flag at the entrance to the Boat Dock parking lot.

- Each volunteer must complete the online registration.
- Volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Following successful registration, you will receive a confirmation email with directions for completing Canoe Kentucky's liability waiver.

We are always in need of dedicated volunteers to help to carry out our clean water mission. When you give us your time and talent, you help fight the good fight for healthy waterways and healthy communities. There are many ways to become a KWA volunteer!
- Help Spread the Word! Do you like talking to people about environmental stewardship? Find out how you can help us reach more people through community tabling at events across the state. Volunteers will learn how to get people interested and involved with our mission.
- Help with Busy Work! Do you have a knack for detail? Join us by assisting with mailings and other aspects of our membership program.

- Join Your Local Watershed Group! People are coming together across the state to talk about their local water quality issues and then work together to remedy them.
- Be a Clean Water Advocate! Rivers and streams are voiceless. Speak up for your waterways! Learn more about how to review water discharge permits and work with us in developing comments on permits.
