Dry Creek Watershed
Kentucky Waterways Alliance (KWA) was awarded a Clean Water Act Section 319(h) grant through the Kentucky Division of Water in 2004 to develop a Watershed Planning Guidebook for Kentucky to use to develop watershed plans in four small watersheds, including Dry Creek. The feedback generated during this planning process was used to finalize the development of the Guidebook.
Dry Creek is a tributary of Triplett Creek located just southeast of the town of Morehead in Rowan County, Kentucky. Triplett Creek drains into the Licking River, which forms the Boundary of Rowan and Bath Counties. The Community of Clearfield is located in the Dry Creek Watershed. The Dry Creek Watershed is approximately 7500 acres, or approximately 11.72 square miles. The area is mainly forested with residential development concentrated at the mouth of the watershed.

The Dry Creek Watershed planning team met regularly for over two years to assemble watershed information, review drafts of the watershed plan, and select Best Management Practices to improve water quality. Community Watershed Roundtables were held to solicit community feedback, build support for the planning process and invite other stakeholders in the watershed to participate, and then later to present the plan to the community.
